Dr. Elizabeth Sumner - Veterinarian

Dr. Elizabeth Sumner grew up in Memphis, TN, and she graduated from Duke University in 2017 with a major in Neuroscience. During her time during undergrad at Duke, Dr. Sumner spent several years shadowing Dr. Miller at Triangle Veterinary Hospital. Her time at TVH convinced her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and she went on to graduate from the Univeristy of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine wtih her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Public Health in 2022. She has spt the past few years practicing in Connecticut, and she is thrilled to finally be moving back to the Triangle!

Professionally, Dr. Sumner is interested in surgery, internal medicine, and One Health - the intersection of human health, animal health, and environmental health. She knows that her care in the clinic extends beyond her furry patients, and she strives to make a difference in the lives of owners and the larger Durham community.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sumner loves foraging for plants and fungi, gardening, beekeeping, hiking, interior design, and Duke basketball. She lives with her husband, her young son, her cat, and many honeybees!
